Nimon-Walker Award Event
Nimon-Walker Award Event
Sunday, April 29
Join the Eagle County Library District and Eagle County Historical Society in honoring local rancher and author Verne Albertson in a special event at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the Avon Library. Albertson will be recognized with the annual Nimon-Walker Award, honoring individuals and families who have helped preserve Eagle County History.
Albertson’s recently published memoir, “Beanies, Stick Horses, Marbles and Mean Chickens” tells the story of growing up on a ranch in northern Eagle County in the 1940s. He has also contributed historical manuscripts, written by his grandmother and father, to the local history archives.
The award ceremony will feature a special presentation by photographer and author Michael Crouser, whose recent book Mountain Ranch (featuring photographs of many Eagle County ranchers) is a finalist for the 2018 Colorado Book Awards.
The Nimon-Walker event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
